Justice Movement of India Engages with HYDRA Commissioner to Advocate for Flood Management Reforms in Hyderabad | Flood Free Hyderabad

Hyderabad, 23/10/2024 —In a significant step towards mitigating urban flooding in Hyderabad, organisers from the Justice Movement of India (JMI) met with the HYDRA Commissioner of the Government of Telangana today. This meeting was part of JMI’s ongoing efforts to promote the implementation of their recently unveiled white paper, “Comprehensive Policy for a Flood-Free Hyderabad.”

The meeting concentrated on key recommendations from JMI’s white paper, which aims to enhance flood prevention in Hyderabad. Organisers Goutham Ragi and Akarsh Sriramoju emphasised sustainable urban planning and community engagement, urging immediate governmental action on the document’s 15 critical demands. The discussion highlighted the need for governmental collaboration to tackle the city’s recurring flood issues effectively.

In the meeting, JMI organisers articulated the urgency of adopting the white paper’s policies to prevent future flooding disasters and to safeguard the city’s infrastructure and its citizens. They highlighted the necessity of governmental action to translate these policies into practice, urging the HYDRA Commissioner to take a proactive role.
